Well, grades for OSU just went up. Who would have thought I'd get a 4.0 in Pharmacy school??? That's good, because it makes up for my first two quarters. Overall, I guess a 3.77 GPA is acceptable. I'm just glad the first year is over!!!

My sister just told me that her school played "Calculus the Musical!" I am soo jealous! I guess it was created by a math and drama teacher, to help students learn and remember math. It even has it's own website, if you want to look it up or hear the songs!!!

Well, I just found out today that my mom was laid off. This just a few weeks after my Dad's work reduced everyone's hours to 4 days a week to cut back. Not good. Especially with Sarah's wedding racking up bills...
Just please keep them both in your prayers for me. I hope my mom can find something, and soon. Unemployment is not very good and no insurance is worse. If anyone knows about an awesome job that might actually be looking to hire in the Cleveland area feel free to let me know.

Today I awoke, not to the sound of my alarm clock like most days, but to the sun in my window. Sounds nice, doesn't it?
Well, I didn't wake up to my alarm clock because I had apparently lost power overnight. That's right NO electricity; AGAIN!!! First Ivan, now a major wind storm. :( I missed my first two classes and had to come to the rest of my classes, since I had a test. The BEST part was the nice COLD shower, taken by candlelight this morning; so to look at least presentable. No lights, no hot water, no hairdryer, no refrigerator...
According to the electric company, they HOPE to get it fixed by midnight FRIDAY. I'm staying at my friends tonight!!! (Melissa, I'll keep you posted...)
P.S. I have a picture of the huge tree just outside my apartment's entrance door completely unrooted by the wind too, but will have to wait until I have electricity again to upload it for you all to see.

The Snow/Ice Storm hit Columbus today (Level 2) too which means....Snow Day!!!
This is only the second time OSU has closed in the last 10 years! But it is NASTY outside!!! I'm staying in for sure. It's sad though, I'll probably study. We were supposed to have a test tonight, but it is cancelled too so it's resceduled for next week. That means we will have 4 tests next week now!!! Great...
Still, today is nice and I'm going to enjoy it!!!

Well, I am finishing up my first week back at school. One quarter down, 11 more to go...
I don't mind the time at the start of the quarter. There is no real homework, no tests for at least a few weeks, and getting to start fresh with some new teachers. I have been taking advantage of the no tests/homework part very well, if I do say so myself. I am still working here at a CVS, but only a few days a week. Yesterday I did nothing after I got home from school from 3pm until bedtime and it was GREAT!!! So great, in fact, that I decided to carry it over to today as well. The only class I still had today was my 7:30am class. I was going to go, honestly, my alarm was set I had all my stuff together. But it was so snowy out this morning and I just didn't feel like getting up for 48 short minutes of class, to just return home. So instead I choose to sleep in (only till around 11am, not TOO bad) and take it easy once again. :)
I did have a few errands to do, so I did get out of the apartment a little bit but now I'm back and I'm staying in. Yesterday seemed to work out so well, so I thought "Why change what is working?" This time of the quarter is so short anyway, I should take advantage of it. Especially looking ahead at our test schedules, etc. They are NOT going to be pretty....
So, I just thought I would update since it's been awhile and let you all know whats going on. It was very nice over break seeing people again, and enjoying the holidays without worry of school work, etc. I miss you all!!!
P.S. You should all come to Columbus to visit me. :)

Well, finals are officially over for my first quarter of pharmacy school!!! I'll get my grades by next Monday, so we'll see how I do... But I don't think that I will get kicked out, so that's good.
I'm also glad the weather was great for my drive back home. Leaving at noon on a Thursday really helps too. No traffic, no bad weather; I got here in under 2 hours!!! Now I am enjoying doing nothing, and it's GREAT!!! (I think I deserve this reward after an evil week of studying and stress, even if I don't deserve pity about it....**cough..April..**)
I will be working a little bit while I'm home, but I'm still up for fun too!!! I'm only working 3 days next week, but two of them are closing shifts on the weekend. So that means we should party it up this weekend!!! If anyone wants to hang out give me a call!!!

Yesterday was the last day of classes in my first quarter of pharmacy school!!! I celebrated by going to work until 10pm. (I know, I'm cool.) I'm happy, but now it means FINALS!!! For those of you not in school anymore, just take a moment to remember that time of year and how much I'm sure you loved it.
Think of that, then think of me. I'm going to really need some good thoughts for my Biochemistry class. At least I have that final first, so I can focus on it all weekend and then get it over with!!! This coming week is going to be exhausting, but I will be SOOO happy when it's over!!!
I have one Monday, TWO on Tuesday (that's going to stink), and one on Wednesday and Thursday. Then a break for 3 whole weeks!!! I can't wait! I will be in Cleveland for that time, and plan on celebrating durng my time off, if anyone wants to join me!!! I should be back Thursday after noon, so give me a call!!!
**On a side note, I just heard today that my sister Sarah is engaged!!! So the weddings will continue...

Today I stayed at school a little later to study, came home and put my things away, made supper, sat down to eat it and then heard a loud blaring noise. It startled me because it was so loud that I knocked over my glass. It was the fire alarm for my apartment building. I just grabbed my keys and phone, and went outside. There were a few of us out there, waiting to see what had happened. There was no smoke visible, and after a little bit the alarms went off. Apparently, as we were later informed, someone fell asleep with some grease on the stove and it caught on fire. I guess they were able to put it out, but it still managed to fill the halls with a not so pleasant smell. (Despite it happening a floor below me and down the hall.)
At least no one was hurt, and they were able to put it out before it spread. I'm glad that person woke up in time to catch it early enough, but it still scares me to think I might have lost everything because of it. Now I have to get back to writing my paper, but it's hard to focus again. But I am thankful that God was with me.

I'm soooo glad I'm finally done with my 3 weeks of two test a week!!! I only had one this week, and it was today; so it's over! I am actually test free until next week Thursday!!!
Don't worry though, I have a paper and a presentation to keep me busy. But still, it's nice. :)
P.S. And it was nice driving to school this morning at 7am and NOT be in the dark!!!

[01 Oct 2008|11:00pm] |
Well I'm finishing up my second week in pharmacy school and it's starting to get into it already. I have my first test next week on Monday. After that there are at least one, mostly two tests a week until finals in December. I'm trying to rest up now, but work is making it difficult. At least I'm done with work for the week until Saturday!!!
And my birthday buddy is in town too!!! Hopefully she'll be here long enough to stop by for a quick visit. <:) That would be horrible if she was so close and times just didn't work out....
I'll keep you all posted!

Well, the last two days have been orientation but today is my first day of Pharmacy school at OSU. And boy does it start early!!! I, Cora Sobarnia, woke up this morning at 6:00am!!!!!!! I know, I couldn't believe it either! I have to be leave to get here by 7am, everyday Monday thru Friday. It's still dark out when I leave, it's so early!!!
Besides the early part, it's going well I guess. Today is lecture day, so you pretty much just sit and listen ALL day. Then after school today, I have to go straight to work until 9pm. Fun huh? So fun, that I get to do it the rest of the week too. That's right, I work right after school until either 9pm or 10pm everyday this week. And I get to work Saturday early too, so no sleeping in for me. :( I hope next week's schedule doesn't look like that too....
I'm going to be one tired girl come this weekend. Well, I'm off to my next class!!!

I don't think I'm EVER going to move again. When I am done with school, I'm just going to have to leave everything there; or at least the big things. Picture it: third floor apartment, 3 sets of stairs, LOTS of boxes and heavy things; including a sleeper sofa!!! But at least it's done now. I'm all moved in and all unpacked actually.
It was even more difficult moving in because my apartment building, along with half the city of Columbus, had no electricity. That lovely storm from last weekend has left trees on wires and lots of work for the electric companies to do. At least I had two windows that let light in. They said it was supposed to be up again on Thursday (tomorrow), but now was slated for possibly Sunday or Monday. It's Wednesday!!! I was less than thrilled at staying in the dark, bored, and unable to do much at all for 4 whole days!!! I called my friend who had moved in a few days before me; she had no power either. :( So I did what I think anyone without any immediate need to be down in Columbus yet would do: I came back to Cleveland with my returning family. I actually worked out okay though, because my friend down there was going to come home for a wedding this weekend anyway and return on Sunday. I just came back with the family, and will return to Columbus with my friend on Sunday. No school missed, no work missed, and no living without electricity!!!
So, I will still be in the Cleveland area for a few more days; until I return Sunday. If anyone wants more Cora time, feel free to give me a call. But I won't have a car of my own; as I left it there in Columbus. But I might be able to steal someone's car here sometime; in fact I'm sure I will. Boy, it was weird packing a bag to come home. But at least when I return everything will be ready to go. I'll just have to plug everything in and hopefully they'll turn on!!!

| It's almost time... |
[09 Sep 2008|10:30pm] |
Today I worked my last Tuesday at Berea. My last official day there is this Monday, September 15th. It's nice, because it's so busy lately and we are short on help. I feel bad though, because they will really be short on help when I leave too, and there aren't any replacements quite ready to work yet.
I've already worked my last day with a few people, including my favorite pharmacist and my older brother, and it is kind of sad. We're having Mootown icecream cake, Macaroni & Cheese (my favorite) and Chick-fil-A for my last day; to "celebrate" my leaving. And people are all like "I'll see you at your party, before you go." I guess it's coming up, but it hasn't quite hit yet. But school is just around the corner.
I've talked to my new store and am all set to go the week I get there. (They are only letting me have 5 days off inbetween, not even a whole week...) At least I'll be needed at my new store too. I always hated when we were forced to take interns and students, even when we didn't need or want them. But I hope it works out.
I guess I'll just have to wait one more week and see.

Well, I just thought I'd update on my father. He came home yesterday afternoon, after they had done some more tests. It seems like they've pretty much tested for everything. Besides some little things they noticed, they have no idea what caused the episode, or if it will happen again. I hope that means that there was nothing serious wrong, and not that they just don't know. He says he's feeling better, so I hope it stays that way.
Thanks for those of you who kept him in your prayers.

| A prayer request |
[19 Aug 2008|11:26pm] |
Well, yesterday while I was in Columbus my Mom and I got a call that my Dad was taken to the emergency room from work, due to vertigo like dizziness. This has happened once before, last year. That episode was due to sky high blood pressure and they were able to get it down. This time, his blood pressure was not very high, so they are testing to see what caused it. He has still not been released from the hospital and is now staying a second night.
At first they thought it was a stroke, but they believe they can rule it out now. But they are still doing tests on his brain and major organs, as a result of blood test findings. They have no answers yet, but I know he's worried. He has always been a worry wart, but this time he might have a reason to worry. His mom died at 50 something, and he's going on 58. Please keep him in your prayers that they find a cause and can treat it, and he can at least return home soon.
Thanks.

Well, at work this weekend we found out that our region raised the most money for Easter Seals. Because we're so cool like that we are all invited to attend a concert, along with one guest, on August 9th at Blossom.
The concert is none other than, Rod Stewart himself!!! While I do enjoy me some old music and know alot of Rod's songs by heart, I still wonder why Rod Stewart? I don' t know what he has to do with Easter Seals, or CVS for that matter. But still, it's pretty tempting.
Unfortunately I won't be able to go that day (Krystl is cooler than Rod any day), but it's still pretty fun, so I thought I would share this with you all. Who'd of thunk?
